Skipping
Do you own a skipping rope?
If you don’t, you should definitely buy one. A skipping rope is inexpensive, you can literally take it and use it anywhere. Whether it’s at home, in the park with the kids or even on holidays. It is so versatile. PLUS, it’s a huge calorie burner. What a win!
For anyone who knows me, knows how much I love skipping. I skip as my workout or use it as a warm up or even as a finisher to my workout. Gets your heart rate up and is such a great cardio blast. I always skip if I’m short on time and really want to sweat and feel like I’ve trained for a much longer workout. As a busy mum, I don’t have a lot of time to train for hours and seriously, you don’t need to train for hours to get great results. You just need to be smart about your sessions. Skipping is so great to add into your workouts to achieve all over body results.
Not only do you trim excess body fat and tone your body whilst you skip, you will be toning your shoulders, arms, legs and glutes. But, skipping has so many other health benefits too. It is a great cardiovascular workout for your body, it’s so important to have a healthy heart. A healthy heart will pump more blood through the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to your tissues.
Skipping is also really great to improve your coordination and balance. As you get older, you need to work on your balance so skipping is a great exercise to include in your training routine. It also improves your concentration as both sides of your brain remain active whilst you are skipping. There really are so many health benefits to skipping, and that’s why it’s one of my favourite things to do!
I also guarantee that your all round fitness will be improved by skipping only a few times a week. Try going for a run and you will be able to run further than you could before. I have tested this on myself and it absolutely worked for me. I was shocked but so happy with how much my fitness improved.
Try skipping for 30 seconds, rest for 15 seconds and repeat 12 times. This will definitely warm you up! You can simply skip in a normal rhythm or add in some high knees, jump on one leg or even try skipping backwards. That is very hard but worth a try. Lots of options to keep it fun.
I can’t recommend skipping highly enough. Go on; give it a go and let me know how you go.
Happy Skipping ladies.
Big Love,
